Biography
The Mars Patrol is Davina Divine, Ross Nelson, and Stephen Parker from Scotland. Formed in November 2004 by Davina & Ross as an acoustic duo, their debut song ‘Sanitize’ beat 500 acts from across the globe to land the number one spot on an independent radio show in Chicago. By virtue of it's strong pop hooks coupled with its authentic rock sensibilities, it topped the pile of demos propping up the desks of ‘Acoustic Review’ who called it “a true classic” and led ‘New Music Scotland’ to announce “a record of considerable grace and poise.”
Recorded between two bedroom’s in West Edinburgh, the overriding themes in their music - positivity, solace, understanding - sees the duo make light of the darkest situations: a trait often overlooked in today’s increasingly cynical, me-first society. And such is their quality, immediacy and warmth. No wonder Barry Gordon, music journalist for The Scotsman and Scotland’s highest circulation newspaper, the Daily Record, commented: “it’s only a matter of time before David Geffen is looking up Edinburgh on a map.” “Broken promises, shattered dreams, the will to surge on amid the rubble of a beautiful world that’s lost a lot of it’s color, ” Davina Divine says Turn It Around, “is designed to inspire, help you escape and confront your fears. It will make you realize that, by looking hard enough, you can see there’s still a lot of beauty in the world.”
By facing problems head on, guitarist Ross Nelson assures The Mars Patrol’s sonic dogma of “no pussyfooting around, getting straight-to-the-point, and total raw energy” will put them in good stead for the future: “We work hard; we put 200% into everything we do. Turn It Around will make you want to scream wild with emotion.”
Davina & Ross have recently bolstered their sound with bassist, Stephen Parker, bestowing an awesome power. Close friends for the past three years with Davina, Ross is proud of his ability to play pop with his authentic rock appreciation intact. Davina, who writes the majority of the band’s lyrics, has been recognized for a voice that touches the head as well as the heart.

The Mars Patrol is Davina Divine, Ross Nelson, and Stephen Parker from Edinburgh, Scotland. You may have seen them recently sharing the stage alongside such artists as KT Tunstall, Kula Shaker, The Feeling, Rooster & Hanson to name a few.
A busy gigging schedule, partnered with a strong internet presence has contributed to the rise and rise of The Mars Patrol. The band now has a worldwide following, including fan sites in the UK, Japan, Europe and America, and this following is set to grow due to the recent release of mini-album, “Are You With Me?”. The CD has already received glowing reviews from around the World.
